How much Azitrhomycin?

Will be switching from Biaxin 500 mg 2x day (bid) to Azithromycin at some point. I wish to order the Azith now and am wondering what would be a good amount to take daily upon switching?

I have no issues taking Biaxin.

I am taking 500 mg azithro on the days I take it. (just once daily)

I know that LLMD MR prescribes it as 500 once daily.

Azithromycin does build in your system - long half-life

Yup what Girlie said.

250mg twice a day or 500mg once a day are the most common.

I have read some doctors who have doubled that amount though.

Just start slow.
Zithromax has been linked to heart issues in some studies.

I take 500mg a day. But be aware of any interactions between meds. I have to take it far away from trazodone because both can cause heart issues. Always check interactions before starting something new. And you want to take it with food.
