Nystatin and vomiting?

Hi all,

Just gave my daughter her first dose of Nystatin, prescribed by her LLMD. Forty-five minutes later she threw it up. I'm curious: Is this purely a side effect of the medication? Is it herxing? Anyone have this experience?

This happened right after having a day and a half of her feeling more energy physically and mentally than she has in weeks. Now she's in bed resting again. This Lyme journey is a day-to-day roller coaster. We are thankful for each moment that she is feeing well.

Yes, the vomiting can actually be a sign of die off and the stomach's reflex to try to get rid of the toxins/debris from the die off. It's probably a good thing.

I have been taking Nystatin for a couple of years with breaks. Often after taking the first dose after a break I can get very nauseated. It should lessen as she gets more doses under her belt but if not, discontinue and let the MD know. You could experiment with a smaller dose but titrate up as quickly as possible. The die off is what you're after.

Be sure she's taking it w/out food or too much water but after 15 min. or so, she can drink water. No juices or sugars.

But are you still taking the Nystatin w/ Juice or applesauce? If so, you aren't getting the benefit of the Nystatin - the sugars will cancel it out and likely feed the yeast.

OK, that is good info that you're taking it w/ water w/out reaction. Next, I would try to increase the dose. If you still don't have a reaction, it is possible that it isn't effective against your strain. Next, I would explore more aggressive biofilm busting. And the other exploration I mentioned in your yeast thread in order to target the fatigue.
