HELP! Tick attached to my son what do I do???

Actually Huddie, it's supposed to storm here tomorrow and all week. But when is the big question, and exactly where it breaks out is another. Sounds like a table game kind of afternoon!

I'm not feeling well today and had family here, so I apologize for my short first reply to this.

I just want to say that I am so, so very sorry that you are having to go through this. I can't even imagine what those of you who have children with this horrible disease go through. You have every right to be upset.

I have no idea how long I've had Lyme, so I have no idea if I passed it on to my children. But as of now, they are 12 and almost 10 and have been perfectly healthy. So I just pray that I got it after they were born or that it wasn't passed along to them.

But if I ever saw I tick on one of them, I would be an absolute basket case. I understand how you must be feeling.

Huddie, I know you are gone for the night, but I just wanted to send you hugs of encouragement. You and your family has been through so much. Praying for a good outcome xoxo

No huddie no offense but the east coast is tickland. I know people on fb who every time they go outside will come in with five ticks on their clothes. Will just had to wear long sleeves long pants. Also a specific kind of spray! And dr klinghardt recommends a citrus tea that the ticks hate and repel away from.

Is it Citrus tea or Cistus tea?

It's like a bad dream, Huddie. Hoping that because he was on abx he will be just fine. It seems like every time we go in our yard we also get ticks (NC). It's crazy because we moved from OH and I never saw a tick there. I'm paranoid about the kids playing outside now. Last year when I was feeling decent I decided to do some work in my flower beds and found a tick on me a week later (a teeny tiny one). During that week I thought I had been getting a cold and my neck was sore. Went on doxy for a month and had night sweats. The tick tested negative but I was obviously killing something off. My husband just got a new job back in OH so we are going back. I can't live like this anymore. You'd think this area wouldn't be as bad but it is horrible. Hang in there.

Hope things are going well this morning (as well as could be under the circumstances!) - and Will is tolerating the abx.

Hi. He's ok. Sad, blue and having dark thoughts again. Hope it's the meds.

Called Jemsek again and they said they can switch him to Mino/Amoxy and that will still do the trick and he can be outside more.

Trav, OH NO!!! Both of you got ticks same day?

I think ticks are mixing up the 'rebirth' message of today. I hate them. I want them wiped off the planet.

So will you just up detox, herbs, astragalus? Praying it's a tick without Lyme for you.

For me, it's holding steady on the detoxing and the astragalus and herbs (JK, Sida right now)- and cussing the tick!!!

The 'funny' thing is that I didn't go outside yesterday except to run to the store for kefir... the same store that I picked up the tick that reinfected me a few years ago!!! This is exactly how my reinfection took place too, only I spotted/felt that tick that I got a few years ago a lot sooner. Likely because I wasn't already dealing with these symptoms, so I noticed them sooner.

Yep, someone needs to have a discussion with these tick and how they are NOT supposed to 'celebrate' with us!!!

I don't know how you all handle all these dang ticks!!! I love to be outdoors in the spring and summer...I can't imagine...
They need to be irradicated...and like immediately!

Other than - a new, 2nd bite, while currently treating, sounds more horrifying than it seems from a physiological standpoint. The risk - even with new bites - is the time given by the "system protocol" between bite and dissemination of the spirochete and all the ways it eventually morphs to evade immune and antimicrobial response, which can take some time.

And in the rare chance that any microbes released by the tick before you were able to detach it, had the opportunity to get very far, they met up with your son's immune system AND abx.

In some ways, if one is to find an attached tick, your son's situation is probably the least likely to be problematic.

So, handling the stress is probably more complicated than managing the potential for harm from the new bite.

That said, I'm sure none of this makes you feel any better. I'd sure be a mess.

Huddie I think will is gonna be okay because you are just starting treatment with dr. J so either way he is in a way still in an early stage it would have been waaaay worse if he was close to remission and got re infected. 😓 And had to do alllll of it all over again.

The spray is called deet spray. And the tea I see called biopure cistus herbal tea and it's in a pretty pink container

As far as I know, it was not IN the store, but I was in that same parking lot, and in that same garden center when I picked up the tick that reinfected me. I'd go talk to the store manager, but I know that I'd be laughed out because "there is no Lyme in Arkansas" and even if they didn't know that, if they ask a local doc, they will be told that as well.

The problem is, I thought it was a chigger bite, so I was ignoring it!!! I swear it felt more like a chigger than a tick!!! (yep, you bet there's a difference!!)

But, as P said, the problem isn't so much that I got bit again, as I am in treatment, but that I was off my astragalus for 2 days (of course, back on it now!!!!) because I ran out and hadn't filled any caps yet due to time restrictions. Ahhhhh!! Always something, isn't it?

Bugs are everywhere. We have to choose which ones we wish to deal with is all. And since ticks are everywhere, there's no reason to move in my mind. I don't want to live in Antarctica.... LOL!

Did you save the tick to be tested? If it tests positive (which I really hope it doesn't), that info will be recorded. Every tick found in AK that has Lyme will be one step closer to them admitting that, yes, there really is Lyme there.

I'm so sorry you were bitten again. It's just awful.

Oh yeah it does bust biofilm. Dr Horowitz just started recommending a specific brand i think it's called I3535 of rock spray
