How can I treat my Husband?

This subject has been on my mind and comments in another thread "Test Results" by silver.light pushed me to follow through on this.

Traveler mentioned Astragalus.........

My husband has a low CD57 -67 which I know can mean different things for different people. He has a few symptoms I say are Lyme but he argues are just his work and age. He still goes and goes.

I'm trying to keep whatever is immune system is doing from crashing.

He has already assumed the healthy eating program (mostly) that I have. Takes the load of supplements I take but I want to do more if possible.

Would I be safe giving him Astragalus? I really don't want him to herx and then refuse to go further with it.

He'll take Chlorella when I hand it to him, I put Zeolite in his morning smoothies. I'm thinking binder detox here.

What else can I do?

Mine is also very stubborn. He is in total denial even though I am living proof. Same arguments. His testing showed IND on 41, and he had bells for a brief period and also little weird symptoms that he will acknowledge but won't tie them to Lyme.

I feel stress levels on both of us maxing out so I've accepted to leave it alone. Yes, it puts added stress on me, but if or when he gets hit, we are both in a bad way.

Sorry, too much information.

I trust God to know he will provide and take care of us. Some may say that's naive, but you've got to cling to something.

If you get your husband to accept, please let me know how you accomplished it.

Pete, no he hasn't watched anything yet, just read articles I've sent to him from Tired of Lyme site. I have Under our Skin but I honestly don't think he's it ready to watch it.

PK, no sorries. It is stressful and I guess they see us going thru the treatment up and downs and don't want any part of the treatment.

It is a worry that if I'm not working he doesn't want to risk his work ability, he's paying all the bills although we just keep racking up the Lyme credit card.

Traveler, is Astragalus something in powder or drops? Any brand better than others?

You can get astragalus in drops or as a powder. I just tasted the powder I have here (LOL!), and it has a slightly sweet, slightly raw nut flavor. The drops may have more 'flavor' to them because of the alcohol, I'm not sure, I've not used any astragalus tinctures previously.

As for a brand, just be sure that it's a reputable brand - you want to be sure that you are getting what you need, not fillers or whatever. We do have a list of companies that many have had good success with listed on page 2 of the new to Lyme? thread (or maybe page 1? I think it's page 2 though...)

He can absolutely reinfect you. Unfortunately with this disease the safe way to go (aside from becoming a monk or nun and abstaining forever!) is to use protection.

I know I may be wrong here but I've been hoping as long as I'm on all these abx I'd be safe and using protection could wait till later.

I have no clue! I'm on Doxy, but not enough to do anything, 100mg 2x day.(doctor thinks it's all in my head. He gave me that for a month just to get rid of me) but I started Buhner's protocol shortly after I started the abx(they end tomorrow). Unless my husband really gets sick to the point he will get tested, it looks like I may keep Lyme. I know this is prob TMI, but even though we've been married 15 years, sex is still very important to him, like every night important, and protection I think would be out of the question. And if it can be spread by saliva, it looks like it would be impossible not to be re-infected.

We're much the same married 15 years and still hot for each other!
Many nights he just gets the short version lol, thank goodness he doesn't mind as long as it's on the table

Once you are in treatment, the impact of being 'reinfected' will be less - so in a way you are right VCL, but the thing is that you will still being getting more bacteria each time possibly, so it's a never ending issue in that respect (trying to be tactful here!!!!). Protection would stop the merry-go-round of being reinfected each time, so that you can make the progress with healing that you should be making.

Lmlynn - this is a real issue for you though, as you are not yet in solid, effective treatment yet. This is a matter of protecting what health you have left, not a matter of convenience for you - like using protection would be for him. Sorry to be so blunt about it!!

LOL! My hubby and I have been married 17 years now, and although we are willing, our bodies aren't so much any more! LOL! Once my hormones tanked, it was horrible, but now his have - or it's his blood thinners that are doing it! LOL!

Traveler - no worries being blunt. I just feel like I'm in a catch 22. Maybe it's all in my head, and I'm reading more into his symptoms than there really is. After all, everyone I know that has a illness like MS or Fibro..., I wonder if it's not really Lyme. He completely denies that he's sick with anything. The dr that did the muscle testing on me, did it on him, and said there was nothing. I just don't have any confidence in that.

It took him nearly a full year to completely believe that I have Lyme, since the tests kept coming back negative, and I have symptoms that you can see, not just me saying I have this.

I never got any results from the tests that have been done, just a call saying they were negative. Would tests that a normal dr run show any bands that I've seen posted on here or is that just Igenix tests?

LOL, love the horse analogy. That's what I've done, I've backed off and quit saying anything about it. My husband is younger than I am. I'm just waiting for his hormones to catch up with mine. I'm beginning to think it's never going to happen! lol
