Hi Lk16 -
I'm liking your MD!
Just so I'm clear - you started taking Diflucan and Nystatin and on Day 7 you developed these rashes?
Is it just a red discoloration? any change in the skin surface/texture? blisters? other bumps? does it itch or burn? is it changing shape or size?
Do you have a pre-existing yeast/fungal issue or did he prescribe these for prevention while you're on antibiotics?
What is your dose?
For now, I'd stop taking them, talk to him. if you have no existing yeast/fungal issue but taking the meds for prevention, it's likely you're having an allergic reaction.
If you do have sone yeast/fungal issues, your reaction could still be an allergy or it COULD be a herx from "die off" when the antifungals hit the yeast/fungal pockets. It's understandable if you want to stop taking the drugs since you could be allergic, but the die off is necessary in order to bring overgrowth under control. And, chances are it's the Diflucan, not the Nystatin, since the Diflucan is a systemic anti fungal - the Nystatin generally doesn't leave the gut so likely won't cause a rash and is often used topically for yeast/fungal rashes.
If you have an existing yeast/fungal overgrowth you would probably continue with some anti fungal. If you feel comfortable, stop taking the Diflucan, continue with the Nystatin and see if the rash resolves.
Try doing some gentle soaks w/ epsom salts, sea salt (not too many ingredients, not too warm water) to help your body detox if you're reacting from an allergy issue.
please let us know what he shares with you...
