When you know more than your doctor

After reading Pirouette post, I was trying to find out if Michigan is a state that requires doctors tell their patients that a negative test is meaningless for diagnosing Lyme. I came across this link. Very depressing. U of M is supposed to a be a leader in healthcare at least in Michigan.

It just shows again that you can not rely on any information provided by western medicine unless they are Lyme Literate. When I posted I just needed to vent to people who understand, but the information given was so much better than what I ever imagined.

There are many instances where natural supplements prove more effective than the allopathic. Doctors who do care will preface their suggestion of the natural with "Don't say I told you this...."

That said I often prefer combinations from both natural and allopathic sources.

Their short courses of abx often do more harm than good and the recommended treatment lengths are getting shorter.

People who resolve chronic issues using abx have used long courses.
The people who have applied short courses keep coming back until resistance to the abx has developed.

But that is the name of the game today, keep them coming back.

I am not happy about needing long term abx but since I chose this route I want to execute it properly.

I look forward to the day I can stop taking them and work on rebuilding the gut flora rather than just maintaining it.

I think we can safely say, we have outed the usefulness of the antiquated rubber reflex mallet that they are all required to have in their toolkit.

It wasn't that long ago doctors were using vibrators on women to 'relieve their stress' as an actual medical treatment.

The best 'drugs' for healing are often combinations whether natural or allopathic. The whole orange has more than just vitamin C in it that is designed to heal.

The medical industry requires isolation of a drug from its so called 'inactive' components in order to receive patent protection and FDA approval. This process of forced isolation renders the whole system flawed from the start.

It seems they are often guessing and experimenting on us as well. I can do that for a lot less money and get better results with the extensive information we have available to us.

We know that healing has many facets which include detox, probiotics, and nutrition. We know that it takes more than just drugs.

After experiencing the ignorance of a few doctors, I felt forced to take over the steering wheel.

In doing so I began to see positive results, so unless we are talking surgery, I will continue to captain my own ship.

With research and the help from my wonderful and resourceful friends here at HW, I am armed with the knowledge and confidence that I need to take the next step whatever that may be!

Sebreg, that's not to mention that dog ticks carry diseases too!!

And the one dose doxy "treatment" has been debunked - it simply doesn't work. But we already knew that. There are many that receive 100 mgs of Doxy twice a day within 24 or 48 hours of a tick bite that still develop the symptoms of these infections, so if that won't work, we know that just one dose will never work.

But, I do disagree with you on those doctors that willingly keep their head in the sand and refuse to even consider Lyme as a possible diagnosis -whether the patient has a tick or not to present. They are willing in this, not just swamped and have no time. They aren't telling patients to seek out treatment - they are saying things like your friend's Mom had said to her -don't worry about it!

Sounds like Marnie and I need to talk. I've emailed back and forth a couple times with Alan McDonald. I have an awful lot of respect for him.

Georgia Hunter is another invaluable teacher, here. I'm really, really, REALLY sorry you are here with us. But we're the better for it. I hope you get to a point where you can write a book about your experiences. This industry listens only to itself (you excluded).

I'm certainly not advocating yelling and cussing at MDs. I think venting to any doc is OK (could be a very cathartic experience). Even more so, I advocate circling back to those who were culpable in this mess and communicating to them facts, info, and how we healed. You're right about honey. And honey can also be served STRAIGHT UP.

P- I can write it, I just don't think many people will listen. Lay people won't understand it and physicians don't care.
