I think this may confirm that I do have Bart - took two 300mg Rifampin instead of one in AM.

So today I wanted to change up my treatment with antibiotics some more. I decided to take two Rifampin in the morning. I had been taking 1 in the morning and 1 at night. This is 300mg each, so 600mg total for the day. I also switched pharmacies and I decided to take one 300mg pill from the old pharmacy and one 300mg pill from the new pharmacy. The manufacturer is different.

I took the two 300mg pills today at 9am. Around noon today I started to experience intense deep bone pain in both of my thighs. Now, I get this pain every so often, but nothing like I have experienced today. My urine is also back to the dark dark yellow color almost red like I experienced when I first started Rifampin in January.

So either this drug is the demon and causing some intense myositis or it is pissing the Bart off causing an intense herx. Hmmm.

I've read some archived post regarding this and that's kind of where I got the idea to take two at once just to see. I thought I would post my experience. Maybe someone else has a different opinion?

I know Horowitz uses this strategy in regards to Rifampin. He will mix things up, either use a stronger dose, or shift dosing strategy (in the way you did, consolidating multiple doses into one). Sometimes doing this will draw out strong herxheimers from the patients, even though they are taking the same amount of drug as before. Maybe increasing the peak level of drug in the body for that small window really nails the buggers! maybe overwhelms or surprises them haha! that's what I like to imagine!

It might have been Horowitz's post I got this idea from. I'll try it again tomorrow or maybe every other day and see how it goes.

Technically the 600 mg are to be taken at the same time so maybe that will be what works best for you.

The deep bone pain does suck though.

That's interesting to know. I just took a look at the bottle and it says take one capsule twice daily.

It's prescribed both ways: 300 mg twice daily or 600 mg once daily.

I've seen more protocols with 300 twice daily.

I did 300 twice daily for over a year...still had bart in my blood.

My LLND told me to switch it up...and take 600 once daily...and it hit me hard...

Much more effective if taken at one time.
