Hello,

I am looking for an LLMD near Gilbert AZ for my son (age 14). We already see an LLMD in North Scottsdale but I am looking for a second opinion and someone closer.

My son has a number of diagnoses that started when he was age 3 including high functioning autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PANS, MTHFR, memory/cognitive issues and now Lyme. The doc suspected Lyme and we paid almost $500 for a specific Lyme urine test through DNA Connexions. He came back positive for Borrelia and Erlichia.

We are using a number of herbs, tinctures and pharmaceuticals. They cost is more than I can keep up with (along with the cost of the doc appointments)... I am starting to buy the herbs bulk and capsule them myself, but I really don't feel like I know what I am doing... I am not sure our current LLMD would be on board with that idea. But I will make our next appointment and let him know what I have decided and see what he says. There is just no other way I can afford the treatment...

So, if anyone has any good recommendations for an LLMD in the Gilbert area or any other feedback, please let me know. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us and very sorry that your son is struggling. You definitely have your plate full - hope we can help with some info and support.

I know you have more on your "to do" list than you'd like, but please be sure to read the "New to Lyme?" thread at the top of the page - it is VERY helpful for those starting down this road and can offer a few suggestions regarding herbal protocols, which I know you can learn and manage - MANY of us here have done the same and there are certainly a few parents who have been down this path and can share their experiences and support.

Here are a few more resources from one of our mods, Traveler, whom you can email for a specific lists of Lyme specialists to consider. Girlie is another great Mod who can help you as well. I'm also a mod but not around as consistently but will help however I can:

You will want to find an ILADS trained doctor, as ID Docs (Infectious Disease Doctors) as well as many others, believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. Hi there! there is an Arizona Lyme disease group on facebook that could provide some suggestions as well potentially? I'm based here in Phoenix, sadly somewhat slim pickings. Feel free to email me if I can be of any help. I'm pretty sure I know the practitioner you are referencing, I was a patient of his for a little while myself. Unfortunately so many of these treatments are expensive, he might be willing to work with you or try and find more cost friendly treatments and workarounds if you ask. If not there are variety of self-treatment options that can be more manageable in terms of cost, kind of along the route you are doing (bulk herbs).
