Hi, I was in a tick infested field this afternoon where people spoke of all the ticks they had seen. Five hours later tonight I have mutitiple thin red scratch like lines on my upper and lower abdomen. They don't itch but burned in shower.
I never saw a tick on me -- but google searches show it looks like Bartonella.. but could it happen that quickly ?
Thank you ,
L

Ticks aren't the only critters that transmit Bart. Flies do too. I'll try to find an article.
Welcome to the forum, by the way. We encourage all new members to read our intro "New to Lyme?....Start here". Tons of valuable information from our veteran members to help all of us get through this ordeal as easily as possible.

Hi LHO -
Welcome to the forum! Glad you found us.
Generally, an erythema migrans (EM or bullets-eye) rash isn't instantaneous like that, nor are the bart-like strike rashes, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
My instinctive responses to your question is that the rash doesn't sound like it's bart or Lyme. While the rashes associated with these two TBDs (tick borne diseases) are different, each category has a broad range of rash types. But neither Lyme nor bart rashes tend to burn or develop a sensation like that.
I am guessing you got into something in the field and you should take good photos of your weird rashes and keep an eye on them. You could have developed a response to something that has to do with a different kind of insect infection or bite or something on the grasses in the field. I have been sliced like crazy from sharp edges of grasses after running through fields before.
I have something growing on my banana trees in my back yard and anyone who touches them develops a nasty painful rash… not sure what it is.
IF you start developing other symptoms or the rashes change in nature rather than fading, I'd get to the ER or doc and get checked out.

I got bit about
2pm in the afternoon and I saw the bite mark, but no tick, while in the shower at about
9pm.
I don't put anything pass lyme...... I have heard it all and do not discredit anything. If it was weird and happening to me, I attributed it all to lyme.
