How to use new Horowitz new book?

Thanks for this informative forum. I have recently been diagnosed with Rocky Mtn. Spotted Fever and had band 23 IGM positive on the Western Blot. I had an overgrowth of prevotella bacteria in my throat and overall yeast problems. I can't afford to go to a LLMD. Have been through some of this before as my daughter had RMSF last summer and one band positive on Western Blot. When reading Horowitz new book, he talks about treating all stages of the bacteria and lists different drugs for cell wall, intracellar, cyst, etc. I will not be using anything IV, but wondering if when reading the chart, he means you could basically pick one of those drugs from each category? Also, any information on how you would pulse drugs such as flagyl, ceftin, doxy would be helpful. He has some scenarios in his book but how do you rotate the drugs?

An infectious disease dr basically told me it does no good to take extended doses of antibiotics. The bacteria is gone from your body, it is the inflammatory response of having the bacteria that is causing your symptoms. And while he was being very arrogant, also asked me "and where did you get your medical training?" Sigh. Even worse, I was sooo tired, I cried (mainly thinking of all we had been through with my daughter). So he succeeded in putting me in my place.

I'm sorry that your daughter had to deal with this...and now you.

I don't have Dr. H's book, so not sure of all he lists in each category.

But, there are many combos that members here have used. So you could let us know what you're thinking of taking and we can post if we've been on that combination.

I am currently pulsing - I did do the daily dosing but have switched over.

I take my abx M/W/F for one week; week two M/T/W/Th/T , then I take a week off.

Some people pulse M/W/F for two weeks, then one week off.

Combos I have used:

Doxy and zithro
Amoxicillin and biaxin
Ceftin and biaxin
Ceftin with tinidazole
Minocycline and Rifampin (for bartonella)
Minocycline and Biaxin (bart)

Make sure you are supporting the gut with good probiotics (daily) and something for liver support.

Sorry you have RMSF and Glad you joined here. There is good information and lots of support on this forum.
You mentioned Horowitcz's book but are you aware that the 2nd edition of "Healing Lyme" By Stephen Buhner? It has extensive information on Rickettsioses infections like RMSF. He also offers a herbal protocol for it. There might be some helpful information that may interest you.

You could take two abx on M/W/F for two weeks and then one week off.
Week 1 on Th and Fri take the Flagyl.

I didn't think Dr Horowitz prescribed pulsed protocols?

I thought he still did the daily dosing?
