Dropping abx, sticking with monolaurin

When I first threw in monolaurin(Inspired Nutrition pellets) I had a reaction. Hives on my inner thighs and arms at the elbows. Though the hives didnt last long, I thought this stuff isnt worth the effort. Needless to say, hard headed me kept trying. Over the last 2 weeks I slowly added it back in, and am now up to 2 full scoops twice/day. Last thursday, I stopped taking mino and rifampin. Since I started taking the monolaurin again I noticed some lymph swelling off and on, which to me meant it was killing stuff off and my body trying to expel the toxins. Ive had more energy than ive had in a long time, and actually worked 2 weeks of 10 hour days plus a full weekend in between. And I didnt miss a day of work, which is odd...I usually am off at least once/wk.

Right/wrong I am going to just keep taking my usual(multi, vit D, krill oil, glucosamine+msm, probiotics) and the monolaurin and see how my body reacts. Besides, I probably need a break from abx anyhow. I am not sure the feeling better can be attributed solely to monolaurin, but im going to find out. On top of feeling better, my weight has also increased a solid 7 lbs, which may not seem like a lot, but ive had trouble putting on weight and keeping it. So hopefully this is a good sign as well.

Ok, just thought id update where im at, and where I am going. Fingers crossed, wish me luck!

Good for you feeling better.

Like I always have said, we are our own guinea pigs and we just have to keep on trying "stuff" until we find what works for us.

There is no perfect protocol and what works for one might not work for another.

Just don't get a sense of superman and over do it. Keep that balance.

Thanks PeteZa. I always over do it though. And then I crash. I cant help it. Ive always been a go getter and unfortunately I dont think I can change that about myself. Its just a work ethic that my father instilled in me. Matter of fact, its time for work. Trying to go in early for OT today and keep my 10hr days rolling in....hard to beat the money which the docs sucked the life out of me for the past 3 years. I promise not to over do it....too much anyhow :D Ok, off to work, have a great day!

I just stated monolaurin myself. Dropped Lomatium. My LLMD doesn't think EBV is an issue based on last labs with IgM in normal range, but may have to share some articles on high IgG 2 to 3 time above normal may indicate active infection.

Hope improvements continue for you Trader. I'm back at about 90% on a good day, but still not ready to drop my ABX pulse since relapse 2 years ago.

With your reaction to the monolaurin, I would highly suspect a yeast/fungal issue.

Although, I'm really happy for you that you are doing quite a bit better right now, I too would caution you too. As I'm sure you know, it's hard to recover from overdoing it! But, best of luck!!!

Right on! how long were you on abx for? could be they knocked out some stuff? monolaurin is good stuff, Traveler has some good points (as does everyone else). There may be multiple underlying issues including herpes viruses/yeast/fungal which the monolaurin is tackling...

We all have to trial and error to find the right path for ourselves.

trader you may be feeling better because you stopped the abx and aren't killing as many bugs off so your symptoms have gone down. when i take my abx breaks this happens to me as well but eventually the bugs replicate and my symptoms return and get worse.

just wanted to throw that out there to consider.

Well, hate to admit, but you are all right. Im starting to feel worse again. Headache, left eye blurry, neck pain, abdominal pain, bowel movements slowing again, left knee acting up again(burning pain and giving out), some numbness in toes and fingers. Probably more but its all slowly creeping back up on me again.

Im gonna stay on monolaurin, but I think I need to get back to the doc. Well, not my LLMD, thinking about Dr J or someone else if I can get into them and afford them. Which I dont think I can. Maybe im just hoping and wishing. Im so sick and tired of being sick and tired. And this upcoming heatwave is going to kill me. I know ive been working too hard, but I have to. Its just me. I have to survive financially. I already filed bk last year and things are finally getting comfortable again financially.

Grrrr!! This stuff is too overwhelming some days!

Sorry, trader.

The one thing about Dr. J. (if you're thinking about THE Dr. J) - is even though the appointments might be expensive often people go away with a protocol that lasts 4 or 5 months. So you're not paying for an appt. every month.
Also, I heard that after the expensive initial appt...the ones after are less expensive.

Thanks Girlie. Yes THE Dr J. I dont know how expensive, just that its expennnnnsive! Im not worried about the price of meds, just the visits. I can get around the meds buying online if I must. But looking back, I dont know what meds will work. I mean, I been in Ceftin, Biaxin, Bactrim, doxy, mino, rifampin...gotta be at least one more. I have tinidazole just never took it....I think. I cant even remember anymore. I know I got some in the closet somewhere.

I just know, even though im better than I was and can work, a lot, im still not right. Not even close. And I dont know if I can get myself there. I think my LLMD is a good doc, but I want someone better.

Trader you're chronic at this point and have been at this a while with different abx (like me) so if you see Dr. J he's more than likely going to put you on a very aggressive protocol that will last 12-16 weeks before you follow up.

First visit is $900 they spend 2-3 hours with you. Second visit is $500 after that $400 a pop. My second appt was 12 weeks later my 3rd appt is scheduled for 12 weeks later as well.

My old LLMD saw me monthly and he was $350 so if you look at the costs I'm saving money going to Dr. J clinic.

If you're fed up you need to try and see the top guys in this industry. Dr. J and Dr. H have been at this a long time. Sure there are people who don't get well but most of his patients do given enough time and persistence.

Dont be. Because im close, yes. I got the money for a visit, but who knows how much the rest will cost. Im gonna call this week. Hopefully its something I can make happen.

I think if you're okay with seeing one of his Nurse Practitioners for your first appt. then you will be able to get in sooner than if you want to see Dr. J.
I have read that Dr. J. does look over every protocol that is given though.

I would assume there will be lab tests that he wants done...and then the purchase of certain supplements.
