Hi Beccakay -
Please watch for symptoms with the kids, as well. Take good notes to keep track of the symptoms and repeat your concerns to your MD about their symptoms as often as you need to. Don't let him intimidate you - you're the mom and you know what is going on with your kids!
It is really great that the Dr you're seeing in July is ILADS, is knowledgeable about both abx and herbs and takes your insurance on referral! You are very lucky - that is rare. So that is something you have going for you and your family.
While you're waiting to see the Dr there are a few things you can do to get ready for treatment, which will also help you avoid the feeling of anxious waiting until your appointment.
There is a lot of information in the "New to Lyme?" thread at the top of the page that Girlie mentioned that you should start learning about detoxing. The detoxing process will help your body process the treatment a little better, treatment can be very difficult on the body.
First, I would start with cleaning up your diet and your kids' diet ---the most important thing to do is to eliminate sugar and processed foods. This is really, really, really important and it's not easy and takes a little time. So that's something you can do today. It's best to limit diet to good veggies, beans, chicken, fish, better to avoid white stuff like rice, bread, pasta potatoes. But Brown rice, sweet potatoes are good. It's not easy to eat like this all the time - the "easy" diet is the processed stuff which includes a lot of sugar and simple carbohydrates that your body treats like sugar. But this can make treatment that much harder on the body.
Hang in there and use this time in June to get ready - please let us know if you have any other questions!
