My western blot came in neg. all but band 41. I've been on doxy for the past 5 weeks. How would that effect the western blot test results.?

I've read that some people will go off their antibiotics prior to the test...to allow the immune system to 'kick in'.
When the antibiotics are doing the job...the immune system doesn't need to.

I think that is what Dr. J's pulsing of the meds with 'drug holiday's is for. (When you take a week off...your immune system is eventually supposed to kick in)

I agree with Girlie - could be that your immune system took a back seat to the doxy. Could also be that the serological tests like the WB are simply insanely unreliable and even if you hadn't been on doxy, you might not have produced measurable antibodies to the Lyme. I'm not sure if you've ever tested before.

Since getting a CDC+ IGeneX, I've been in treatment - herbal, abx, combo, for 3 yrs now and all my recent Lyme AND coinfection tests came up entirely negative. It's nonsensical that I have no associated antibodies in my body but the test couldn't detect anything, not even the DNA Connexions detected anything.

The tests mean very little unless they are positive.
