This week I had to take a break from my antibiotic regimen because I was getting some symptoms of liver enzymes being elevated (this has happened before). I didn't think it would be a problem because I am on a-Bart, a-l complex, and IMNV-v for ebv. I was wrong.

I didn't feel weak like I usually do when I go off my antibiotics BUT about two days off I began to have suicidal ideation, depression, was in a rage and felt like I could scream at anyone on the subway, and was extremely irritable. In addition my brain felt so weird like I wanted to clench my fists or bang it into a wall.

Basically I decided to go back on the antibiotics and I don't feel depressed anymore..... but I want to know- is this the Lyme or the Barton Ella doing this? does anyone have any other effective antibiotics for Bart??

I'm currently on biaxin and rifampin- supposed to be a good combo I thought? But alas I'm still having symptoms that I had 1.5 years ago.

Yep, we have to watch our liver no matter what type of treatment we use, because it's the toxins from the bacteria not the treatment specifically that's increasing the liver enzymes.

Those symptoms could be from either Lyme or Bart - and maybe from other infections as well.

Are you taking an anti-inflammatory? I know that any time I have inflammation in my brain, I'm much more likely to have those symptoms.

Well, I don't think I have Bart. Not totally sure, but i have only tested positive for Lyme and Babesia.
When things get bad for me ( going down in the dark hole I call it) I can go back and forth between severe depression and rage. It makes me feel like I want to jump through a window sometimes, borderline insanity really, ugly stuff.

So maybe its the Lyme?

We have to remember not to act on these crazy thoughts, these are not our thoughts, but the result of too many toxins poisioning our minds.

Hope you feel better soon. These crazy mind games are the hardest part for me, but we can get through this.

Some meds can also increase the liver enzymes, but even without being on those meds the toxins can raise the liver enzymes.

It can't be verified if it's Lyme or Bart, because both of these infections can cause these symptoms. When symptoms get serious and the current targeted infection being treated isn't helping, sometimes people will switch to treating a different infection that could be causing the issues and will get relief. There could be so many things contributing to it though, that it may be more to it than simply changing protocols.

Can you talk to your doctor about this?
