You may also see things like 1:5 ration on one and a 1:1 ratio on the other. This usually refers to the amount of herbs compared to the amount of alcohol. One is not necessarily better than the other - just different. The 1:1 (or less alcohol) will be less potent, but we don't all need to have as high of a potency as we can find, it depends a lot more on how you tolerate it.
Also, different herbs need different amounts of alcohol. My avena sativa is a 1:1, but other tinctures are 1:3 or 1:5 (those are generally what I get for treatment herbs). The supportive herbs I actually prefer to be less potent so I can feel the smaller changes, or when I need less 'help'.
