I listened to the Chronic Lyme Disease Summit 2. One of the talks was with a doctor who does a herbal challenge to see whether you react to it - as part of determining whether you may have the coinfection.
I realize that this is not helpful to those who want confirmation with an actual lab test. But if labs are negative and coinfection testing is flawed, this may be a good option.
Traveler posted this link on another thread, but it covers the points about diagnosis in this article. This was one of the doctors who were speakers at the Summit 2.

From website:
Challenge the patient with a therapeutic intervention that is as specific as possible to the suspected pathogen.
The patient's response to this variable is as good as we get for confirming the diagnosis.
That doesn't sound very appealing to me. I react to EVERYTHING. There was a point where I literally made my husband drive to the hospital so we could sit in the parking lot when I took a new med or supplement. So actually trying to get a reaction scares the bejeebers out of me. Also, the worst, by far, reaction I had to anything was Oregano Oil (this was before I knew what I had). I literally had just one drop, and it was game over. So I'm not going to lie, herbals kind of scare me. I think a lot of them are more powerful than prescript
ion drugs. And I think with a lot of them, it's hard to tell what the potency is, since there is variation from brand to brand and even different batches of the same brand.
