I have been just coming to terms with lyme disease. A couple clarification questions:
a) Many of you have remarked that the IgM vs IgG debate is somewhat moot. If i came up IgM positive for bands 23 and 41, but not IgG positive, does this mean the infection itself was recently acquired, or that a possible infection from years ago is just starting to show symptoms now? Since band 23 was positive, is that solely responsible for lyme? I was in Haiti when some of the symptoms began so just making sure it wouldn't be a disease mimicking lyme.
b) I've been noticing all these symptoms that I dismissed as being coincidental (severe left knee pain when I keep it bent for a long period of time; some cognitive issues--typing the wrong word; difficulty focusing), in addition to the facial and head tingling (my most frequent symptom--I have it everyday). Would something like isolated knee pain in one knee be a symptom of lyme?
Meeting with a lyme specialist hopefully this week or next. I'm hoping he or she gives me more doxy because I'm feeling pretty vulnerable without it.
Symptom began April 2017
Diagnosis late May 2017
2 wks 100mg 2x daily of doxy
