Advice Needed: Lyme DR in the NW and ABX vs Herbal

A few posted on another thread about DrK and DrMR in the NW. I am currently recovering from neuro lyme and bart. I've been treating strictly herbal up to this point.

Anyone use one of these Drs and care to give me some advice?

Also, I'm worried that starting ABX will destroy my gut and create worse problems. Anyone know about that?

BTW, whenever I try probiotics i have a huge spike in neuro symptoms, rage, anxiety, panic....I'm wondering if my immune system is treating these buggers as invaders? Or am I herxing cause they are cleaning up my gut?

I live in the greater Seattle area about 5 mins from Dr. K. If you don't want to do Abx I would suggest going to him. If you do try abx, you will absolutely have to take probiotics. You will wreck your gut if you try abx without probiotics.

Dr. MR has a webinar that he does 3 Wednesday's per month at 5:00pm. I suggest seeing if he has one next week and signing up for it. You can ask him specific questions there with no charge.

I have seen Dr. S.M. and she is capable. She uses abx and herbs, but prefers abx more. She had lyme herself and is now asymptomatic. From Connecticut.

It's seems that dr. K. is not using abx for chronic patients any more? That was my impression from that lyme conference just a few days ago...

I never fared well with abx. I'm glad there are so many other good options out there.

I love dr. K's approach, but I guess if you go to Soph Inst you won't probably see him, but another practitioner? Or are you seeing him, specifically? That would be great!

Have you had any yeast and fungal testing? That may be why you are having issues with taking probiotics - the die off from the yeast can be very similar to a herx with Lyme.

Be sure to express your concerns with your doctor about the abx use - they should be able to explain what they will do (testing and such) and then the treatment plan for healing your gut first so that you can tolerate the abx. Whether or not to use herbs or abx, you will need to use probiotics.

Coming from the herbal side of things, I'm much more comfortable with dealing with the herbs, but this is a highly personal choice. I would encourage you that no matter which path you choose that you watch your gut health.
