I live in puerto Vallarta México and there is no atavaquone in México so i am planning on going to the states to get it so i was asking for some ideas as of where and how much

I don't know specific pharmacies, but I can tell you its roughly between $600 - 800 USD for a 210mL bottle of Mepron. At manufacturer recommended dosing that's about 3 weeks. Many LLMDs double that dose, so a bottle lasts 10 days.

GlaxoSmithKline has a patient assistance program for people who are low income, uninsured, unemployed.
Worth looking into if you are in a rough financial situation.
It is possible to get free Mepron if you qualify for the program.

When I tried to get the generic Atavaquone 5 months ago because my insurance would not cover it, the price was $1150.00 for a months supply of 1 tsp twice a day. The actual brand name Mepron was $1400. I couldn't afford that.

Cash price is around $1300. With all rx's you can go to www[dot] goodrx [dot] com and get a discount code. It will tell you the price at local pharmacies and you can choose the cheapest. Still runs about $600 at a discount :-(. And it's said you need to treat Babs st least 4 months (so 4 bottles with a week break in between, but mine never lasts the 3 weeks it's supposed to... do probably 5 or 6 bottles.

I heard that malarone is much cheaper, but I have no experience with that (it contains atovaquone).

I agree with BabsBunny. Check out malarone. It contains atovaquone and one other drug (I forget which). It's also pretty inexpensive (I think).

I feel insanely blessed. My insurance has covered three months so far 100%. I'm amazed!! Without insurance it would be about $1200
