Thx for the testing info bluelyme. It seems wise to at least rule out parasites. Hospital analyzed the purilent goop from the abscesses but we don't know what was found.
The nuts and seeds issue is no longer universally accepted as taboo with diverticulosis. She loves her pistachios and cashews but is spooked about
eating them now. A diet low in fiber seems to be identified as a causal factor for diverticulosis, the weakening of the intestinal wall and subsequent formation of pockets that may become infected, thus causing diverticulitis.
Like it or not, I may have to become her diet cop. She's a convenience and comfort food addict. I think she got religion though from this. A serious gut health /healing protocol via functional / integrative medicine will happen as we want to avoid the knife if at all possible. Dealing with parasites would certainly be part of that.
That said, I'm very skeptical about
the parasite hysteria that can't be objectively proved by testing.
