Does the food sensitivity ever go away????

I've had lyme disease for about a year now, and my LLMD believes I may finally be done with treatment (started in January of this year) and he says the symptoms I feel ATM are just my immune system working hard. I have pressure behind my eyes still, and still can not go near sugar, caffeine or carbs.. they induce a panic attack, mood swings, and more pressure and weird feeling in my eyes and head. I still have trouble sleeping too.

He told me a few weeks ago that if I'm not satisfied where I'm at, I should give him a call to continue treatment. I'm just worried more abx will make me feel worse, and at this point I am beginning to start two jobs so the last thing I need is to feel worse and call into work a lot.

I feel as though I still need treatment. I definitely don't feel as good as I did before I contracted lyme. I hope this is not the best that it gets. I'd say I'm 80% back to normal, but I still don't feel like myself.

My LLMD said food sensitivity OFTEN goes away... so there's a chance that it won't? I have been craving so much food this past year and it's driving me crazy! I can't imagine not being able to eat certain things again. I miss my coffee!!!

If anyone has been in a similar situation as me,,, did the food/diet sensitivity ever go away for you? Have you heard stories of it going away after some time in other people?

...Or does it sound like I still need more treatment? If so, should IV abx be considered?

The ILADS guidelines (Burrascano) call for treating until no active disease for 4-8 weeks.

It is difficult sometimes - when there are nerves involved - what are symptoms...and what is inflammation and/or damage that just needs more time to heal.

So you have treated for about 6 months for a chronic infection? That's not a very long time.

Also, you have enough going on - symptom wise to warrant treating longer.

Have you treated the co-infections?

I was tested negative for co-infections a while back. I was on doxy for 4 months, zithro for 2, and a mix of zithro and mepron for only a couple of weeks because I started feeling heart palps. Since then, I have not been on any abx. Its been a few weeks

Kml, that is absolutely true about co-infection testing. If you have symptoms, treat according. You won't get better until you do☹️

During lyme, I always got more and more allergies and intolerance to so many things...

If lyme is gone, a lot disappears rather fast (for me, at least).

but I think food sensitivity is not only related to lyme, but also to the immune system.

Candida can cause that, too.

I agree with the others: if you still have symptoms, continue treating.

The tests are never too reliable. Plus, a tick can have about 100 different infections, with so many strains, that no lyme doctor will be able to test for all.
