What herbs have been used successfully in treating Lyme?
Fortunately, nowadays, there are many options for herbal "protocols", such as :
Bryon White (through practitioners - combination herbals)
Beyond Balance (through practitioners - combination herbals)
Buhner's suggested herbals (based on Buhner's books - more do-it-yourself)
Cowden Protocol (do-it-yourself)
These are the most common ones that I've seen here and IRL.
As for individual herbals, there are just far too many from the different protocols to list out individually and will depend on what you are targeting (lyme, bartonella, babesia, cytokine remodulation, headaches, pain, anxiety, blah blah blah). This just means there are many options.
There are many posts and people who do herbals (similarly, there are many people who do abx on this board too). Feel free to create a new post asking for more information, perform search, or read more on the board. Lots of diverse opinions and experiences here on this board!
My functional medicine MD use to do antibiotics primarily, but now he does it much less (minority). When he was doing the abx protocols, he use to put people on herbal protocols when they couldn't handle the abx. There are others who can't handle abx (for whatever the reason) and go herbally.
If you listen to the Chronic Lyme Disease Summit (1 and 2), you will hear from various different practitioners - some who do abx and some who do alternatives like herbals. Over time, I'm seeing an increase in herbals due to many reasons. We should have a sticky thread/data base in this forum on herbs and what each one does.
