Lyme newbie

Hi all,

I was given 4 weeks of doxycycline after getting the bullseye rash on one arm then finding two similar on the other arm (likely stage 2 lyme)

I am just wondering - is 4 weeks usually enough? I had no other symptoms - I am now on day 5 of the antibiotic rashes have nearly cleared up completely, just feeling very tire and a little nauseous.

I am 36 and otherwise healthy.

sara - per the Lyme Treatment Guidelines, when you have a Bulls eye rash and no other symptoms - it's recommended you treat until symptom free plus another 4 weeks...with a minimum of 6 weeks.

So if you are symptom free in a week (for example) - (including the rashes) - then you need 4 MORE weeks of antibiotics.

You want to knock this out NOW...and not have it go chronic.

Tiredness I think it mostly due to jetlag - I traveled from Vancouver to Ireland yesterday and myself and my 2 under 4's have jet lag too.

I will take your advise and try aim for a 6 week antibiotic treatment. I a pretty confident all symptoms will be gone by end of this week so that gives me a good 4.5 week treatment after symptoms are all gone.

I 100% would rather nip this in the butt right now than have to deal with it arising again.

I suffer with psoriasis so I will have to try and up my probiotics, fish oils, vit b and green juicing to stop a huge flare being on antibiotics for so long.
