Scleroderma, mold

It has been a while since I have posted here as I have found some great facebook groups; however, I am so grateful to this group because it is what led me to the truth about my daughter. She ended up testing positive for lyme, babesia, bartonella, erlichia, mycoplasma, MARCoNS, PANDAS/PANS, and more.

She is now 11 but it all started at age 9 and took a year to be properly diagnosed. And she has now been on tx for 1 year. She is doing way better-- I would even say 90% better. She is currently taking doxy, alinia, fluconazole, atovaquone/proguanil, plus probiotics, herbals, and vitamin/nutrient supplements.

Her specialist recently had her tested for mold antibodies and interestingly she has elevated IgG for all 7 species tested, yet our house tested in the average range for mold. She also had high Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1 (which I have been told has a relationship with mold as well).

Anyhow, she had high ANAs all along (from 1:320 to 1:1280 speckled) and was hospitalized twice and even misdiagnosed with systemic lupus at one point. Her specialist tested her ANAs again recently and she was positive for SCL-70 (1.8) (less than 1.0 is negative). This antibody indicates scleroderma. She has had skin issues the entire time but nothing that looks like the pictures of scleroderma. She does, however, have some areas of lighter pigment that have formed more recently (it does look a little like the pictures of morphea but they are pretty small) plus little pimple-like bumps on her skin. I also thought she might have some molluscum but not sure that's what it is and she has a hardened white bump over her eye. And she still gets itchy bumps in random places that come and go within hours.

She still tests high for mycoplasma IgM and HHV-6 IgG.

So, sorry for the long post, but I gave all this background because I'm wondering if it's more likely that all the meds could be causing the skin issues or could it be mold sensitivity or one of the other infections? And has anyone else had that positive scleroderma marker but not actually have scleroderma? I had read somewhere that some lyme patients can have a false positive ANA, which is what I kind of thought was going on. But with every new test comes more questions and I hope that if anyone has any experience with this you can shed some light on it for me. It scares me to think that she could be possibly heading down the road of scleroderma. I hope not! Thanks for reading!!

was going to add my 2 cents but Trav kept it short and simple.

I had all kinds of skin issues with lyme. And remember googling different things and learning that all these different names for different skin conditions and they are just that "conditions", nothing explaining root causes.

So I quickly learn that my long list of different and odd skin symptoms is "just lyme". Yes, still not good, but at least I stopped myself from thinking I had 10 different "conditions".

"It's just lyme".
