You probably already know this but if you have MTHFR gene you should avoid nitrous oxide. I am heterozygous (1 copy) for a1298c and I guess it is not as dangerous to get nitrous oxide. But my kids are hetero for a1298c & c677t and my youngest is homozygous for a1298c - and from what I have read they should not have nitrous oxide. I believe it can elevate homocysteine and do something to b12. Maybe your mthfr gene was essentially turned "off" when you were younger and now having issues with it? I'm no expert on the subject...

What about some opioids? Would they dull the pain?


Did the nerve damage from the freezing needles completely resolve?

Interesting the timing of this post.

I was concerned about that when I recently had two mercury amalgams replaced with a composite.
She put the freezing needle in...and then 10 minutes later...asked if my tongue was numb...it wasn't but I could feel the lower jaw area was...she said I needed another needle. I said I thought it would be fine. But, she insisted I needed another one. sad
While she was injecting...I started to think about possible damage to the nerves...and was kinda freaking out.

Anyway...it all turned out okay for me...

Yes, my nerve damage is resolved now because I was finally able to figure it out with a natural home remedy (clove and pain blend of essential oils resolved it quickly - wish I would have thought of trying it sooner). Advil would not touch the pain. I was on it daily for several days to help reduce inflammation. That was a failure. Only thing that helped was the essential oils. THANK GOODNESS.

Yes, the needles that inject the anesthetic.

I was wondering if some opiod based pain killer may work for you during the procedure since you don't want the anesthetic injections.

Ive never found Advil works for any of my pain.

Try it without any pain injection-it will hurt some but know it wont kill you and will be temporary.
With that said you could have new dds ready with injection. FYI-do not have any vit. C before surgery. Vit. C will neutralize almost everything-pain meds included. After surgery load up.

Woops -sorry I was doing two things at once-neither one well.
I did do a dental procedure without meds once-how did I cope? I concentrated on finally being well and swore a lot through my tears. Hurt like an Mfer but if that was the challenge I was going threw it. As you may remember its not that bad after.

This time, I was completely miserable afterwards. sad Extremely sore after. They used some light laser on my gums to help with the irritation/healing.

I have done it without numbing enough times to say that it completely varies depending on location, deepness, etc.
