A NT shortage again? This is nuts and why I changed to Erfa for a few years. Dr faxes the script, then pay with CC # on phone, got it in 2 weeks from Universal Drug in Canada.

There was no natural thyroid in America during parts of 2009. All the pig thyroid powder comes from one facility (they had issues) and is sold to the US pig thyroid pill producers (only 3 remain today).

I hope its just a shortage from the NT brand and not the thyroid powder. Did you google this in better places- like STTM?

Healthy adrenals always made me feel calmer, but never changed my thyroid levels. My hashi thyroid is pretty well physically damaged so that might be why. Its like Swiss cheese on the U/S image LOL.

I now use NP Acella, it was cheap then a huge increase around June. I just got a new bottle. My insurance wont cover any pig thyroid.

My desiccated thyroid costs a dollar a day. It's compounded by a local pharmacy in my neighborhood. My insurance ill not cover any of it ... just so you have an idea of the cost of an alternative to big pharma.

Always a good last option. I almost went that route. Plus you usually get to choose fillers.

With Walgreens Rx club membership of $20 per year, My NP Acella is $52 for 80 days = .65 per day.
Without memberships full retail is $90 for 80 days = $1.12 per day.

Was half of that price last year.

I see a more open mined Endo, covered by low co-pay and free lab testing (extra $ in savings for me). He wont do compounded (bummer)- so I'd loose all that coverage by going to a non insurance clinic.

At one time there was a pharmacy that stocked more NT brand than anyone in the nation - they were close to RCL labs (makers of NT brand). I think the place was called Clarks pharmacy in Arizona. RCL provided me with that info in 2009.

Read the suggestions. Certain individuals here most likely know more about natural thyroid than your Dr. Learn about your options when on thyroid med- DO NOT leave it up to a Dr. If it a life long ordeal, you need to learn these things. Natural thyroid is all very similar but way different from synthetics.

Although all US pig thyroid powder comes from one plant, the pills use different fillers and that means the strengths of same MG sizes do not result in the same effectiveness. So you WILL be high or low and WILL most likely need adjustment (blood draws at 5 weeks and test) if you change brands. This is a fact, not my opinion. Not the end of the world, but if you can get Nature Throid from another source - that is the best move (unless you actually want to change brands for additional reasons).

FYI my pharmacy just told me naturethroid was discontinued. I called the LLMD and he said it's not. He has it available. He had said his inventory of certain doses has been down, but I take 1 grain and he is giving me 3 months.
