Hello, the dude. I got my bachelors in finance and worked at really good jobs before I got sick. Once I got sick my boss started getting annoyed at me for taking so many sick days then finally fired me. I think being fired traumatized me because I have no interest in finance anymore. It’s funny because before all of this I was literally obsessed with the financial industry and a workaholic. The jobs I had were very competitive to get so being out of work for 2 years would make me start at the bottom again which I’m just not willing to do. I could do customer service from home in the meantime.
Hi, Lvg123:
Thanks for the background information. I was curious if you might me in the technology space, so maybe I could ask-around for you. But, while you're highly educated and experienced, we're in different circles.
As for your not having an interest in Finance anymore, I can somewhat relate. Unfortunately, I hate my job. Well, it's the disengaged and inept management that I dislike. The job itself would be fine, if I could have the resources I need. Or, if I could fire my Director and Vice President. But, that's probably a familiar lament for most folks today, no matter their company or role.
I'm just burned-out, tired, and, really, pissed-off. I'm physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. I've been with the company over 10 years and that's about
eight years too long. My original company was purchased by a larger company, then, in turn, we were purchased by an even larger company.
If I had the stamina, I'd do something else. I've been considering quitting, anyway, since the job negatively affects me on several levels. But, of course, I worry about
being able to find something else -- especially with my current earnings.
Anyhoo, is there any chance you could take legal action against your former boss for firing you? I'm guessing it's more complicated than just being fired. Whether directly or indirectly, maybe your boss was harassing you?
Whatever the case, I do wish you much luck in finding a home-based opportunity. I'm sure the jobs are out there -- it's just finding one that's legitimate and that pays enough.
