Hello! I am looking for a LLMD in Chicago. I have received a couple of recommendations from a friend who has Lyme disease, but we are uninsured and they are all $$$$. Also, my friend ordered me an IGeneX Specimen Kit but I am assuming that the doctor we see will require the testing and charge me for that.

I want to have my child tested then go from there. June of 2016 she was diagnosed with cellulitis from a bug bite behind her ear at UIHeatlh. Large Bulls-eye with fever but was not given any Lyme testing. Fastforward to today, she has some paralysis on her left side of her face.

Heard of Dr. W, Dr. C. and Dr. Z. Who should I go see for testing?

Hi and welcome to our forum,
Sorry to hear about your daughter and Igenix is one of the best places to get tested, you just need a MD's signature for the request.

If she had a bulls eye she has Lyme.

There are other co infections you might consider testing for as Lyme rarely travels alone.

Thank you so much. I was ready to get the IgeneX test but was discouraged by my sister because the Dr I choose will probably require testing unless would a LLMD accept the IgeneX test results and work from that?

I live in Chicago, have been sick for a year, and have two of my three kids who were bit a year ago, as well. We have met with many of the doctors in and around Chicago. I am happy to connect with you live or via email to give you the scoop.

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter! Most doctors in Chicago are totally clueless!

Yes a LLMD will accept Igenex test results.

You could get just the Lyme WB IgM and IgG - total of $210

Take the results (you will get them in about three weeks) to the LLMD appt.
The LLMD can have your daughter test for coinfections if he wants them - but some LLMD's diagnose the co's clinically and don't test for them.
