Why does alcohol seem to make our symptoms much worse? I've heard it does and can attest to it but what is the mechanisms that cause this to happen? Is it the chemical composition, messing with the immune system, bugs like to eat its byproducts like spinach, ???

I think it's just because of the sugar. The bacteria feeds on it.

It must be more than sugar because I have never reacted to sugar the way that alcohol has affected me.

I do ok with very small amounts of alcohol but rarely have any desire for it. Alcohols made with yeasts I wont touch.

I usually tolerate it also if I don't over do it. I think maybe it's a toxin and it weakens the immune system.

Sugar doesn't bother me, but one glass of wine and I feel hungover. A couple of months ago I had 2 martinis, and I was violently ill. So...I'm waiting on the alcohol. Luckily not a big drinker.
