Bactrim?

I have the "luxury" of getting kidney stones often and one put me in the hospital 2 weeks ago. They admitted me because I developed a bladder infection as a result. They gave me rocephin IV in the hospital, just one dose. While they grew the culture, they sent me home with Ceftin (only took 3 doses) before the culture showed that I needed a different antibiotic. Doc wanted to put me on Cipro, I would not allow that, so he put me on Bactrim. I felt crummy at first but toward the end of the 10 days, I felt better than I had in a long time! A lot of my lyme symptoms went away and I was sleeping better, had more energy, hardly any muscle aches, etc... I finished the medicine last Thursday and developed a rash on Saturday. To be honest, I didn't mind because I felt ok! Then yesterday I started feeling like symptoms might be creeping back. Woke up feeling not so great today. Anyway, sorry for the long post... Could Bactrim have helped and that quickly? I've had doctors say I have Lyme and Bart while others say I have neither. I'm wondering if this dose on antibiotics could mean something? I am ashamed to admit that I had hit a wall with doctors and the frustration that came with treating Lyme so I had stopped treating. I know that sounds foolish but I couldn't afford an LLMD anymore and regular MDs would not accept my diagnosis because I am technically CDC negative (but positive with Igenex and another urine PCR test, can't remember the name). I was thinking about going the herbal route but since I felt so good with Bactrim, I wonder if that could be the answer. I have an appointment with a new infectious disease doctor next week and am hoping he will listen to me and take into consideration my other Lyme tests as well as how I did on Bactrim. Am I being too hopeful? Thanks for reading

No improvement with the LLMD, and I felt like I was misled. He said it was really important to get the DNA Connexions test done because it would tell us exactly which tick borne illnesses I had. I spent a lot of money I didn't have to get that test done and when I went back to him for the results, it showed positive for Lyme and Bart, but he said that doesn't mean they are causing me problems. So he said let's put that treatment on hold and work on your hormones first (which weren't out of whack). I just feel like he was feeding me a line to get me to keep retuning to his office. I couldn't afford it and I left really discouraged and a lot poorer

yes bactrim can hit lyme, babs and bart that's why its made a comeback in treating these infections being a pretty old drug.

i know someone that got into remission taking bactrim + i've been on it close to a year so I know it helps.

yes you'd need an LLMD to get long term bactrim.
