Hyperthermia and kids

i would be very concerned with putting a child through this treatment given its experimental nature and lack of solid evidence of progress. still you do have a tough problem with your daughter having all 3 B's and not being able to handle oral abx all that well.

Unfortunately bacillin isn't likely to do much for bartonella given its not very effective for this double walled gram negative pathogen. its really for lyme but i'm finding most folks that isn't their problem its the co-infections with the symptoms you've listed. still its worth a shot since your options are limited.

her symptoms sounds mostly babesia and bart. i know you tried malarone which didn't work for her but that didn't work for me and lots of other people i know. alinia won't clear babesia on its own but its sometimes part of a regimen like Dr. J in DC does.

have you tried some abx that she can tolerate + mepron + artemisinin? i think you need to get the babesia under control first and it can take a long time. i didn't make any solid progress for 8 months my wife is on month 7 and still struggling but everyone is different. pulsing would also help her tummy.

just curious why the doc didn't try mepron even at smaller doses its the go to drug for babesia.

Evanston - sorry you're having to deal with this. I know how difficult it is to get your kids to take any medications - but Mepron...that would be a challenge for sure.
I have always had a sensitive sense of taste and smell. and heightened gag reflex.

The Mepron - at times - was hard for me to take....I did gag a few times...but managed to keep it down.

Maybe discuss with the LLMD - having your daughter try the Malarone on a pulsed regimen to start (with antibiotics) - maybe she could tolerate it better. Start with one pill per day?
And maybe after awhile on that, she could go to full dose?

Those symptoms could be all three...not just one. Shortness of breath could be Babesia. Ants crawling - bartonella. But, lyme could also cause the symptoms. Lots of overlap.

Can Mepron be mixed with juice?

I take it straight. For me, it looks a lot worse than it tastes. I really don't mind the taste. But not sure I've ever drank a thicker liquid.

I don't see why not? I mean it mixes with everything in your stomach anyway, right?

what's the difference if you took the mepron and 5 minutes later had a drink of juice?

That's what I mean. If she is afraid she is going to throw up, just mix it in with a glass of orange juice or the like.

I heard back from the director at St George Klinic and they said they'd take my daughter at the same time as me. However, it will be a very modified program for her since they typically do not accept kids younger than 16. I don't think she will get the full blown hyperthermia. But she will get the plasma pheresis and OVIG along with all the IV antibiotics, ozone, detox stuff, etc.

I'm way more comfortable with that. The thought of her doing the whole body hyperthermia is way to scary.

funny i have no issue with mepron i don't see what all the fuss is about ;o)

that anxiety attack after your daughter takes the malarone could be the babesia symptoms flaring due to herxing. that happens to my wife it was really bad when she started up the malarone but has since gotten better.

if you're set on going to the mexico or german clinic than just settle on that for now and do it and get the journey started (whenever you can of course). just go into it with the expectation that it very well may not be the short term fix you're looking for.

i've found very little in this 'business' that fixes anything short term. these bugs once they settle in are very hard to eradicate. back in the day (12+ years ago) i've heard of people having lyme for years and getting rid of it in months. i think today the ticks are dirtier with more co-infections and the bugs have evolved to better fend for themselves.

if you're deciding between say Dr. J in DC and one of these clinics remember you can always do one and then the other. Dr. J's office is usually not too big a wait to get into usually no more than a few weeks so it's always there. what you do want is to feel comfortable in whatever choice you're making and give it a college try before considering other options. your current situation doesn't sound like where you want to be.
