Hi
I'm waking at 2am regularly thinking I'm going to pass out, my heart going like crazy and anxiety huge
I've not yet started treatment
What please are the best herbs/ abx for this early stage/ to reduce the anxiety which is really overwhelming?

Ps also have autoimmunity going on so lungs are badly tired too

Hawthorn is the most noted herb for heart conditions. Cordyceps is supposed to be good for lungs. I looked in Buhner's Healing Lyme book and under Lyme carditis, he lists lots of herbs for various cardiac symptoms. Japanese knotweed is listed for angina, palpitations, and shortness of breath.

I had those symptoms long before I knew I had Lyme. I haven't had much of those symptoms since treating with herbs, so I can't say what herbs might give you immediate relief.

Sorry you're feeling those symptoms. Hope you get some relief soon.

When dealing with anxiety, you need to look at the whole picture. There is a lot adding up to it. Rx anxiety meds cover up these symptoms through different means, but there are natural alternatives with less side effects.

Although the cause of anxiety may be from these bugs and toxicity caused from killing them, further eradication WONT make your anxiety any better in the immediate short term, but should in the long term when they are under control.

These infections can alter the endocrine system (adrenals,thyroid, and blood sugar) which can further raise havoc on an otherwise calm brain. This system should be looked at individually (all three) in all individuals experiencing anxiety with lyme. I will not go into details on this post though, since that's not what you asked.

You asked for immediate relief, which is still a band aid, but at least a natural one:

Anxiety attack short term relief in 5 minutes: B3 Niacin, get the type that causes facial flushing, goggle it.

More gradual / hour later relief with less drowsiness: Lithium Orotate 5mg, Holy Basil capsules

More gradual / hour later , but possible tiredness: 5 HTP, GABA, Magnessium glycinate or mag calm powder.

Worth mentioning, not as powerful unless high doses, then tiredness will result: valerian root (natures real Valum), passion flower.

Welcome to the forum. How is your daughter now? I hope you are both well.

My Lyme-Literate Physicians Assistant (LLPA) recommended Seroquel for me, as I usually wake throughout the night, have trouble going back to sleep, and I always wake tired and unrefreshed. But, I've not yet tried it ... or, the other stack of prescriptions she wrote.

What dose of Seroquel works best for your daughter?

Is your daughter currently getting treatment for lyme disease? Or is she in remission now?

So your daughter tried all the natural/herbal options first...and nothing helped her?
None of the OTC sleep medications worked?
I'm asking because Seroquel is something I'd consider as a last resort - being it is an antipsychotic medication.

Dude, If I were you, before taking Seroquel, I'd first exhaust other options... Seroquel is an anti-psychotic medication used for Schizophrenia and sometimes bi-polar disorder...and off-label for sleep aid.
Try all the non-pharma ones first...and seroquel should be lower down the pharma list IMO.

The best treatment is to cure the lyme.

Remember treating the anxiety will not ever cure the lyme but curing the lyme will most likely cure the anxiety. One needs to be careful and not let a doc go to far down the road of treating with psych meds-some docs will give up and just treat you like a psych patient. With that said I understand that this long road often sucks-hang in there

I just wanted to say that I relate. The anxiety is, by far, the most difficult symptom for me to deal with. Getting the disease under control is the solution long-term. What helps for me when the anxiety is at its worst is Alka Seltzer Gold (don't know why but it does) and hemp oil. See if you can get a hold of some hemp oil. It's cheap, tastes good, and for me it sends a calming feeling throughout my body and helps me get back to sleep.

I had to back on an SSRi for my anxiety. It had driven me to depression 2 months ago. Alot better now.

Ladybug, did you get a sleep study ? I was diagnosed with Lyme and Sleep apnea at the same time. Even with cpap I still wake up at night. You should ask your PA ( I'm one also ) to check if it intereferes with sleep architecture. I found out the hard way Cymbalta all but wiped out my REM cycles.

I was also diagnosed with sleep apnea...at that time I was waking up every few hours in the night in a panic, gasping for air.

I tried the cpap for a month...and it was worse. I still woke up every few hours...but had great difficulty falling asleep with the device.

After treatment and time, the frequent wakings, panic, gasping for air went away.

I am considering a re-test with the sleep apnea device...and see if I still have it.

I feel like my personality is just becoming full of anxiety ,days as well as nights
I've read Lyme etc can do this which scares me as l was a lively and sociable person but now just want sleep all the time ..!

I've been in your shoes. If you look at my post- I listed different anxiety supplements and their effects. Idea being some are better for PM vs AM.

None of these are expensive to experiment with either. And you dont get hooked on them like Rx's.

Plus taking a brain Rx when your problem might be reving adrenals creating anxiety makes no real sense - but Drs dont take these things into account.
