I know that the tetracyclines can cause head pressure, but how do you know when to be concerned? I see varying attitudes toward it in old posts.

I was on doxy for months and have now been pulsing minocycline, azithromycin and clindamycin for a few months. I'm on an off week right now, but last week I started feeling significant and increasing pressure behind the eyes. It's less this week while I'm not on abx.

I also just noticed a mention that Mepron can cause this too, and I think cipro can as well. I'm supposed to drop azithromycin soon and add those two and some other things for the next round. Now I'm wondering if that will compound the issue. Any thoughts?

I had worsening of head pressure with Mepron.

You mentioned clindamycin - which is a Babesia Med.

I'm thinking its perhaps Babesia and the meds (mepron and clindamycin ) are killing bugs in our head.

Did you discuss that symptom with your LLMD - at your last appt?

I didn't have that problem yet at my last appointment, but I called and they said repeat the old protocol for another week before starting the new one, and to see an eye doctor if it gets worse.

Clinda is for Babesia and not Lyme? Interesting. This is my Cefdinir replacement in the Lyme protocol, and it has helped a lot (vs. just the other two abx alone, which I did for a month).

Oh, maybe I should have done that...

Clindamycin targets Babesia as well as Lyme.

It's one of LLMD MR listed treatments for babesia in the "TreatLyme" online book I subscribe to.

He pairs it with either Plaquenil or Quinine.

Yeah, I guess they can check if there's pressure on the optic nerves. You've had it for a long time with no vision problems though, right?

Well, glad I'm hitting both with this protocol then. Guess this could be a herx. Have other symptoms right now too.

No vision problems except a few times early on with the Mepron - it felt like it was affecting my vision a bit -

I did have my eyes checked but I think it was in 2015 - my optic nerve was checked and she had me do a Fields test - the eye doc seemed to know what to look for with Lyme disease. At that time she told me I no longer needed my glasses that I had started wearing them n 2010 after a couple years working at s job that is all computer work. She said it was from eye strain and now that I’m not doing that job, my vision is good again.

I think I should go see her again.

I just started back on Mepron and I am feeling the pressure starting to creep back in.

Back in 2014 I had some "can't get out of bed or see straight because of the head pressure" my husband would give me some Sudafed Severe Sinus ( I will double check on that) and it would take the edge of enough for me to get out of bed.

Darn, Babesia. It can be a painful bugger.

I think it might not hurt all of you who complain of head pressure to also have your prolactin checked in case you have a pituitary tumour. about one in six people does, and if you have Lyme, I would think the likelihood may be much higher because those patients tend to have a lot of cysts and tumours. A prolactin test is really simple and can be taken along with other blood tests.

Interesting you should mention that.
I requested a dye enhanced mri to check my pituitary gland - and it showed the stalk had a slight deviation to the left - but didn’t show a tumour - maybe because they weren’t looking for one?

Great - something else to worry about,

I’m bringing all my imaging to Dr J appt so I will mention that.

eye pressure a couple days a week for a couple of hours is one my lingering symptoms and I'm not on any ABX.

I think it's a detox issue, for I always feel better after an epsom foot soak.
