Buhner Bartonella Protocol - Fluconazole (Flagyl)

Hi all!

I have been taking Buhner's protocol for Batonella for approximately 5-6 months and still having pains in the soles of my feet. I've also had an Ultra Sound which expressed "Trivially thickened Valves" of my heart.

Also, I've read a post here where someone mentions one should stay away from taking both herbs and Flagyl (Fluconazole) at the same time. I have been on both Fluconazole and herbs from Buhner's below protocol and have also had slightly elevated liver enzymes (while on abx, Fluconazole and Herbs).

1- Does anyone suggest I switch up on Buhner protocol; if so, how?
2- Has anyone had heart valve issues related to Bartonella?
3- Is it a beneficial move to stop taking Fluconazole while on Buhner's Herbs/Supplements?

I understand nobody here is a doctor and whatever you suggest is not medical advise; only for educational purposes.

One or two of the dosages within the below mentioned supplements may not be written correctly.

I have mitral valve regurgitation, which started years before I knew I had Lyme/co. I told my cardiologist I have Lyme when I saw him last year. When I told him, he said, "doctors here don't know anything about Lyme disease." He is absolutely right about that. My PCP had never heard of bartonella, even by its common name of cat scratch disease.

I will mention the bartonella to my cardiologist next time I go and will take Buhner's bart book with me so he can read the short section on heart involvement.

As for the herbs and abx contraindications, I don't know what to tell you. I know Red Root is a coagulant,which means it could cause more clotting of the blood. I have taken it during 2 periods but took breaks in between. Buhner recommends a different herb in lieu of red root for those who can't take it for that reason. I think it's salvia miltiorhiza.

You do know that Flagyl is not Fluconazole, right?

Fluconazole is diflucan for Candida

Did you treat Lyme prior to Bart?

I used Kudzu root, motherwurt and the Salvia miltiorhiza tinctures(for Bart foot pain) but check for side effects and contradictions.


I have been doing almost the same protocols as you for Bart/babs since July, but with a few change ups here and there.

for L arginine I was taking 1500 mg 3X day for about 4 months now my llmd reduced it to 2X day.

2 weeks ago we added in Artemisinin complex by mediherb and Gluthathione Recycler by Apex energentics(NAC), to kinda change things up. Also super garlic for candidia. The changes did cause mild herxing .

But we stopped isatis,Rhodiola and cordyceps tinctures and quecertin(getting cordyceps and milk thistle in the Gluth. Recycler).

I have also been take Bidens pilosa tincture for many months.

Your taking hawthorne and that is supposed to be protective of the heart.

I cant help with that abx I dont know much about it.

I have reduced left wall function in my heart. For a while they thought I'd had a heart attack until they found out i have bartonella

Was there a particular test to find that out?
We’re there obvious symptoms?
