What I read somewhere (I think in Buhner's book) is that there are two different ways your immune system works, and your immune system gets stuck in only one type when you have Lyme, and taking the usual immune-boosting herbs like astragulus isn't a good idea. However, he does say that your immune system goes the other way when you have bartonella.
It's very confusing. I just take astragulus on and off (since I have bart too), and try to eat a good diet. I feel like andrographis has done the most to boost my immune system.
I've also heard of different mushrooms like reishi and cordyceps being good for your immune system. I tried cordyceps, but I noticed an increase of hyperactivity/inability to focus type symptoms for some reason.
I am skeptical about immune boosting things because I tried a treatment that was supposed to boost my immune system and it made me sicker.
Lyme suppress immune function T cells, (which is part of what I mentioned previously). CD57 test measures Natural Killer cells and T cells.
Bart alone is not strong enough to suppress T cells in a lab setting, but in your body it might do this based on your overall state of health.
Cancer increases immune function cells and activity.
