Dry eyes (upon waking) with Lyme and Babesia, (also: what about Bart?)

Hi all,

Over the past 2-3 weeks (since starting coartem) I have noticed that my eyeballs are very dry upon waking in the morning, so much so that I’m probably going to cvs this morning to get some artificial tears. My question is, is this symptom related to Lyme or Babesia? Or could it be a side effect from any of the medications I’m currently taking (coartem, doxycycline, Azithromyicin, Nystatin) or supplements (omega 3, NAC 900mg BID, magnesisum 200mg BID, circumin 500mg BID, B vitamin complex,probiotic, 5 HTP 100mg BID, and L theanine 100mg BID)? The only new adds to my regiment in this similar time frame are the NAC and Coartem and an increased dose of curcumin (I take Meriva 500mg sustained release BID now) so if it’s med/supplement related it must be one of those. The only other symptom to appear in this same timeframe is the return of extremely tight neck/suboccipital muscles which is what i had
For 2-3 months before I found out I had Lyme and they mostly disappeared after about 8 weeks of doxy,zith,tindamax. Maybe it’s a herx? I have been treating Lyme since October and Babesia since end of January, and happy to say that since starting the Coartem I’m doing much better!

Or, could it be (gulp) Bart even though I’ve tested negative at least 3 times via quest (most recently
3 weeks ago) and don’t really have any pain usually save for the occasional headache. All my symptoms have been pretty much psych-related (and improving!) plus head and neck stiffness which I’ve always thought is more indicative of babs and Lead me to get igenix tested/confirmed diagnosis in Jan. Are there any hallmark signs to look out for that might differentiate Bart from babs? I don’t suspect I have it like I did with Lyme/babs but want to be sure that now that i think im getting the Babesia Duncani under control.

It seems to be just upon waking for me at the moment. And it only appeared recently so I’m hoping it’s not Bart. Are the quest tests reliable?

No. A negative test from Quest is not reliable.

Do you have any notable signs of bart - bone pain anywhere, sore feet, any kind of skin symptoms, rage?

This article might help. I don't agree with all of his distinctions between bart and babs and his are different from other sources, including Buhner's but I still find them quite helpful.

No bone pain (just neck and sub-occipital muscle spasm), no sore feet, can’t really say I’ve noticed any skin issues other than a few pimples every now and then, and just periods of being very irritable (by rage I assume you mean outbursts or uncontrolled anger that manifests in some form?)

I read the link you posted and it doesn’t sound like me at all. Here’s hoping. I may still request igenix testing to be sure since you say quest isn’t very good.
