Lyme Rash or not? Confused with doctors opinion

Hi,

I'm posting here because I don't feel confident enough with my doctors advice...

I got bitten a week ago by an unknown insect in an outside bar. I didn't think about a tick bite at first place, more of a mosquito bite. It got very itchy and red so I went to the doctor 3 days after. She said that it was probably a spider bite and gave me one day of doxyciline to take as prevention.

Days after days it started to get darker. Yesterday it got even a bit yellow whitish in the middle so I went straight to the hospital. For them everything is normal it's just an allergy to a random insect bite. I went back to my regular doctor and she confirmed that it was definitely not a Lyme rash. She said that it was more like a bruise which was starting to heal.

I have enough doxyciline for 5 more days so I keep taking it in case, but should I see another doctor or am I getting to paranoid about this rash?

It may not be the typical em rash but no dr can definitively say whether it is a Lyme rash since many don’t have rashes anyway. Trust your gut. If you are unable to obtain a regular course of abc but are concerned I would check out a natural protocol and stay on that for a few weeks. Bonus to that is you won’t screw up your gut.

Www.buhnerhealinglyme.com. Look for the new or acute infection. If it were me I would take high doses of astragalus or echinacea for a bit. If I knew it was a tick bit I’d do a more expanded protocol

Thanks a lot for your answer! I'll definitely keep up for a long time with a strong natural treatment + strengthening immunity as much as I can.

I was really going crazy with this rash to know if it was typical of lyme or not ...

If i were you i would take inmidiatelly 400mg doxy/ day....

The side effects of it are minor compared with lyme symptoms if finally it's a rash lyme.... I wouldn't wait to test for lyme and take abx now.

I don't want to discuss about herbs but i meet a guy with a STARIS rash and he took herbs the first days... and finally he developed chronic lyme disease... if you can avoid it taking some doxy it's prefered to take herbs

I had a similar rash like you and finally it was lyme disease.... it has not to be a perfect circle...

Even your rash is simillar to bull eye rash...

I don't know if that is a tick bite or Lyme rash or not.

I am concerned about the appearance of it, though. It definitely looks like it was infected and the dark skin color in the current picture is scary looking to me.

If it were me, I'd definitely get another doctor to look at that. Do you have a dermatologist (skin doctor)?

Yes I do have a dermatologist but he's pretty bad too. I live in a small city and it's hard to find a good doctor or specialized practitioner. It was a bit infected at the beginning but the color is more like a bruise now, i'm putting an antibiotic cream twice a day on it.

So I'm gonna try to find a doctor who will at least accept to give me a doxyciline prescription.

The only thing that makes me hope that it was not a tick, is that I wasn't bitten anywhere close to nature.
It was in an open aired bar inside a medieval castle. There was maybe one or two small trees on the terrasse but that's it. I did sit for a long time on the rocks stairs so I suppose that i got bit there...

i would see if you could get a few weeks of doxy 200 mg twice daily.

As Oriol stated...the side effects/risks of a few weeks doxy are low in comparison to letting lyme disease take hold.
