I'm well aware of the sugar feeds the bacteria mantra. I do believe this mantra but it doesn't explain everything to me. Before i acquired Lyme and co-infections I really didn't have any unusual specific food sensitivities. If I drank a lot of whole milk, had to many sweets, ate to much crap etc. then sure my body would react to that.
What I don't understand is I can eat a moderate amount of fruit every day (bananas, blueberries, oranges, apples) and NOT have any reaction. However, if I have some peanut butter that is either equal or less than the amount of sugar I take in via fruit inflammation lights up my body like the 4th of July. The same can be said for low sugar snacks such as crackers, chips, sometimes popcorn. I realize these foods are processed and some probably contain artificial sweeteners versus national sugar but does the body really process those sugars differently? Does all the others ingredients in processed foods really cause all these symptoms?
This is just some food for thought on a Friday afternoon and also is probably a thinly veiled rant about
me complaining about
my strict diet.
