Has anyone had facial breakouts from houttinya? I'm up to 15 drops 3 times a day and just started noticing tiny acne breakouts .. ugh . I haven't done anything else new ,no facial creams, cleansers etc. but since being at the 15 drops 3 times a day I just started seeing these breakouts.

Anyone else? Any side effects at all ?

I'm using it for bart.

Hi Bluecrab!

I did not experience this from using Houttuynia. I did a quick search. It is a relatively new herb to the western world (new'er) so I am not sure that there would be much data.

If it is a concern I would definitely consider stopping the Houttuynia and seeing if your symptoms disappear. You can always go back on it.

Have you changed your diet at all? I break out when I eat too much dairy.

I did not have breakouts from houtt, but I did from bartonella flares. Bart causes a lot of skin symptoms and I was having flares of all sorts of things at the time, so I suspected bart. It went away when the bart flare died down. Most of that breakout was on my abdomen.

For over a month now, I've had a return of mild itchy bumps near my jawline. I had this for a long time before and during the time my chronic symptoms started. They're back. I'm female and hormone issues may be involved with mine, as well, but still in conjunction with bart, IMO.

Bart seems to have a huge affect on female hormones. Vet research backs this up. My experience certainly seems to line up with that.

I too had acne when I treated for bartonella, but it was in my chest area. They were not pimples, more like tiny little bumps of hardened oil/lard that I could scratch off with my fingernail. No redness or irritation at the site.

As WBF mentioned, bart does cause a lot of skin symptoms like streaks and bumps. I've always wondered if that is where it creates colonies to replicate.
