I love the collective wisdom on this forum. Thank you to all for this great knowlege and sharing!
I have a recent diagnosis of Lyme, analosmosis, babesia and EBV...seems I hit the jackpot!!!
My story: ( I apologize for the lengthiness). Iwas diagnosised with Lyme in the late 90's. Only symtom was a swollen knee. It was treated and it was all out of my mind until now. In early May I discovered a strange infection from some type of bite on my butt that created a large infection where the skin became strange and leatherlike. Doctor said it looked like a spider bite. I was put on 10 days of doxycycyline. Later in May I found 2 ticks in my scalp. ( one imbedded, one not ). Went to doctor and had was given a doxy pill. Shortly after I developed some sort of strange itchy rash on my arms and chest as well as a hive like swelling on my face. Never associated it with lyme but now wonder. I was working in a home with fleas and potentially bedbugs.. and mold ( I suspect this home - in addition to all the antibiotics is what did me in and caused my vulnerablility to all these infections). Went to the doctor and was told it was contact dermatitis and put on prednisone.( another hit on my immune system ). Then the next week, I had the worst flu I could imagine. The doctor ordered bloodwork... found the anaplosmosis and put me on doxy again. At that point I went to an Integrative Health/ Lyme Literate MD for more blood testing and guidance and the additional infections were found. ( mix of chronic and acute ).
I am approaching the end of my 30 days of 200mgs/day of doxy and the holistic MD wants me to continue. I am concerned about this. I have been on so much already. I am taking many herbal remedies , probiotics and suppliments, eating a clean alkaline diet, and begining accupuncture treatments. I would love to hear thoughts from others regarding continuing with the doxy. Also I am not feeling so bad which confuses me. It feels incongruous with the bloodwork results. Tired, yes. Very high liver count, yes ( slowly coming down ). But otherwise, OK. Any thoughts, advice or perpective appreciated.
