I like to herx on any new therapy-I do not want to know the treatment is doing something and do not need to waste money or time on something that isn't working. With that said I also back off-maybe accept a slight headache as a herx
This pretty much mirrors my view. I am very sensitive and herx whenever the med is effective, both a blessing and a curse. It lets me know the med is having some efficacy against underlying pathogens, the curse is the herxing can be hellacious if I'm not careful.
Herxing in my case get very intense and indefinite (some meds the herx tapers off after a few days/week, others it is pretty much constant). Some herxes I can power through, others get into dangerous territory where I feel like I'm going crazy and not sleeping, so that's when I back off. At that point I see if it's possible to improvise a pulsing or lower dose strategy.
Whenever I don't have any level of herxing anymore but still have remaining symptoms (and have plateaued with treatments) is when I look to rotate the protocol.
