Thanks Missouri.
Ellie Lobel, founder of bvt for lyme, says that Bartonella is an opportunistic infection. Many people carry it, but it isn't until lyme, or some other immune lowering infection comes around and allows it to thrive.
I believe this exactly what happened to me. I've always had cats. Been bit and scratched. And had to go to the er for an infected bite in 2012. I believe it's been chilling out in my body waiting to explode. And the tick in 2016 lit the fuse.
Honestly, I think I was lucky the tick bit me and left a rash. I was already having some weird symptoms leading up to the tick bite. Had it not been for researching lyme and coming across Bartonella, who knows when bart would have reared his head and what types of diagnoses I would have received.
