What is the actual cause of air hunger?

Is it literally not enough oxygen caused by autonomic dysfunction screwing up breathing apparatus OR is it a reduction in blood stream of oxygen due to destruction of blood cells via spleen or treatment

We all say it's definitely babs but could it be other things? I've had pots, increased pulse and heart rate for weeks at a time during treatments which then resolved and I attribute those things to dysautomia as well treatment

Now air hunger shows up for first time after 2+ yrs of treatment - 5 minutes after 1/2 scoop of monolaurin which I have taken 3 full scoops a day 3 months ago with no major issues. Bc I don't think monolaurin hits babs. Only other thing I've been taking is cbd oil.

But I'm wondering the physical cause.

I read something somewhere that the symptom is caused more by iron, and babesia feeding on the blood's iron causing low iron. I'm not sure though, I don't know the mechanisms and would love to hear from others if they have insights on how that dynamic works.

In regards to the monolaurin and that response I'm not sure. It could be riling up your system, killing some pathogens causing your immune system to respond more aggressively? have you treated for babesia? I don't get air hunger much anymore, except when I'm treating aggressively.

might be synergy effect of monolaurin combined with cbd oil? just a guess though

maybe add in some Cryptolepis....I know a few LLMD's who feel that one is good for babesia (not to mention Buhner himself)

Sebreg is probably correct . When i view rbc of a babs infected person they are always pale pink instead of iron rich red . Babs is very much a intercellular pathogen ...i imagine making hard to get o2 to the muscles that need it ....especially when the body requires more oxygen than is present, then one cannot resaturate quick enough

So did some research as monolaurin shouldn't set off babs. Found vagus nerve article which I'd read awhile back. My air hunger was like my body forgot to breathe by itself, which I found a post connecting this with pots. The vagus article gave recommendations on activating it (and as a resuit the autonomic system). One suggestion was humming. After 10 minutes of humming om, the breathing issue was good as was my pots! So in my case it's got to be caused by autonomic issues if humming resolves both at least right now. Thought this might be of interest for others w similar issues.

Ahh . . . Buhner suggests it's due to bartonella, at least in this case. I've always felt mine was related to bartonella. Don't know why, but I still resist the probablity of my having babesia.

What do you mean by humming? Like musical humming?? Could I get a link to this article? I have terrible air hunger from my bart but I don't have babe despite multiple testing for it.

Yeah, that was interesting! I'd never heard of bartonella potentially causing that symptom. But given that it affects the vascular system it doesn't seem implausible. I wasn't sure if babesia/babs like organism was still involved in my case at this point, but I tried some malarone not too long ago and it made me herx very strongly. Given that malarone doesn't hit bart or lyme it was a good confirmation I was still dealing with an underlying protozoal infection. I do also have a strong case of bartonella as well, it can be hard to figure out which infection is causing what symptoms, I don't try to parse those things anymore it's too maddening!!! I mostly go for broad-spectrum treatment to hedge my bets.
