Do any of you have active lyme with dormant coinfections or active cos and dormant lyme?

I don't think so. If you had something like full blown AIDS that resulted in complete immune system failure, then probably.

For us, our immune sytems are impaired to varying degrees dependent on many factors. From what I've read from experts who have written on Lyme, the immune system prioritizes the infections based on which one it deems the most threatening, especially in regards to the brain. I've read the immune system will protect the brain at all costs.

To answer the subject title of your post, I feel like I have active coinfections and dormant Lyme. I am not aware of any effective way to scientifically make such a determination.

This is an interesting question. I definitely have one dominant infection most of the time, I think.

Right now it is babesia. Although given the overlap it’s hard to tell and I usually have enough hints that the others are active to continue with all three. It’s possible at this point that I’m just dealing with babesia and bartonella playing leap frog as none of my symptoms at the moment are exclusively lyme. If only we could sort it out more easily. I’m currently waiting cd57 results which might offer a clue.

That's how I feel, too. I just added artemesia about 10 days ago to try to figure out if I have babesia or not. The last 2 days, I've had occasional surges of pains in the top of my head. I think I must have babesia in addition to bartonella. My symptoms seem to go back and forth between the two. Even the days I had the head pains, I also had sore feet and bone pain in my hip bones and elbow bones. Oh well, just keep going with the herbs is all I know to do. Sida acuta is one of the hardest hitting herbs for me, probably because it does double duty for both those infections.

I do take Japanese knotweed, Gou-teng, Chinese skullcap, and a dusting of cat's claw powder for Lyme. My CD57 levels have been increasing since treating. Hopefully, it will keep climbing.

Sandyfeet, that air hunger is really one of the worst symptoms isn't it?! it's one of the worst symptoms I've ever experienced (the other being burning neuropathy). Especially when the air hunger is constant, it explodes my anxiety and also makes me have a lot of insomnia. It creates the worst discomfort in my body. Right now I really only get bad air hunger when I directly target babesia with things like malarone.

Answering the original question. Hard to say exactly, but I have heard that if you treat one infection effectively and it gets minimized sometimes other infections will pop up to the fore. Either way, I think it is good to try and keep treating all the infections that are in play.

So true about the whack-a-mole! Slow and steady is the way to go. Shoot for broad coverage. Chip away. It's been the best strategy for me in my case!

I can't remember who said this, maybe a doctor or a patient. But they said, for many of us, these infections often don't make us sick overnight, but they take years to entrench and really develop disease. So they won't be fixed overnight, it takes persistence to reverse the situation. Rome wasn't built in a day sort of idea. I like it, I do think these health situations reward persistence and tactical improvisation of therapies.
