So I posted a few weeks ago I was getting a blood test from a new company called Aperiomics that apparently has the largest known pathogen database to sequence your DNA against. I've tried DNA Connexions, Igenex, etc. but none of these tests look for ALL known pathogens in your blood.
I got the results back and basically here are the results.
First off the amount of Microbial DNA Detected was < 0.1%. This is considered low. Not sure what that means but i'll take it as a good sign?
No parasites, fungi, DNA Viruses identified.
The 4 bacteria that were found were the following in abundance descending order:
[Propionibacterium] namnetense
Curvibacter delicatus
Novosphinggobium sp. CCH12-A3
Mycobacterium mucogenicum
The first 3 are listed as Unknown under Known Pathogen column. The last one is Yes.
I did research on all of them and the only one that seems to have any potential validity is the Mycobacterium. The particular sub-species of mucogenicum is something that can grow outside PICC lines and such. The species of mycobacterium itself many of us know is nasty and you need to treat it like treating TB and needs multiple drug cocktails over a long period of time to eradicate.
I guess its possible that this pathogen is what's keeping me sick in that I can't sufficiently eradicate it.
Then again whatever pathogens are keeping me sick may not of been in the sample.
Or the pathogens are gone and I'm having residual symptoms or some other thing going on.
Lots of unknowns but wanted to post my thoughts to everyone who may be interested in this test.
Its not a cheap test it was $1100 all in and insurance won't cover it. If I had to do the test again I would because I believe in the technology and that it can identify ALL known pathogens by DNA sequencing which using their approach is 100x more accurate that PCR which requires replication and loses accuracy.
