Im about to start the burner bartonella protocol. The only thing is, there is little evidence pointing to that it works.
Ljohn23,
I understand feeling that way. When finding out we have Lyme and/or coinfections, we all want to pick the "right" treatment protocol - the one with the best chances of working that will get us well as quickly as possible with the least chance of negative side effects.
I don't believe there is much more evidence of ANY protocol being overwhelmingly effective for all people at all times for bartonella or any of the other infections.
I agree that Buhner's protocols are a great place to start, especially if you incorporate all or most of the protocol and do it for long enough. Whatever method you treat with, you will likely need a minimum of a year. Many people make the mistake of stopping short because they feel better and just want to be done already.
Bluelyme gave a good response, IMO. I started Buhner's protocol in June 2017. Ironically, the most effective things I've done are antifungal and antiparasitic herbs. Those expelled some junk out of my gut that was contributing to my symptoms.
If you've been infected and untreated a long time like I have, you tend to have a lot more layers to dig through and it's not all borellia, bartonella, or babesia. It's a host of things and a lot of whole body inflammation and dysfunction.
Newly infected people, especially those who had a known tick bite and know exactly when they were infected, probably won't have as much complexity to work through.
I encourage you to fully embrace the Buhner protocol, if that's what you've chosen, and give it 100% of your effort. Buhner is a genius and is revered by many for good reason. If his protocol is not enough to get you to 100%, it's not because the protocol is wrong or useless. It's because you need some adjustments and changes to make it work for you. Like someone else mentioned, consulting with a Buhner herbalist could be helpful at that point, but you don't need that to get started.
Plant medicine is powerful. It's a matter of tweeking things to find the best herbs, combinations, and doses that will work the best for you.
We're rooting for you!!! You can do this. If I can, anybody can.
