Dealing with ceftin herxing?

I see that several people have taken ceftin with good results. I just started with 500 mg twice a day. Since I weigh only 90 lbs and I am 74 y.o. I thought that was pretty high dosage but I had to try. I took the first tablet yesterday morning and another one about 9 pm. I couldn't sleep for discomfort. Today I put off taking 1 capsule until noon with lunch. Pretty soon I had bad pain and the later it got the more excruciating it became. Taking tramadol did nothing. I finally took a whole 100 mg tramadol and it has given me some relief.
Has anyone else had this kind of pain with ceftin? Is there anything I can do to alleviate the pain other than taking a lot of narcotics. I am going to try taking just 1 tablet a day. My regime calls for ceptin 4 straight days, then doxy 100 mg M,T,F and then tindamax 500 mg M, W, F. All all for twice a day.
I need to find a way to get through 6 weeks of this but I can't cope with this much pain. Can't sleep or do anything.

Thanks so much for responding. I also have had this herxing (continuous pain in lower extremities) when taking other antibiotics. I thought I was just having a bad reaction but I guess it is integral to the action of these drugs. Did it continue until you went off the ceftin permanently? How long did you take the ceftin? Did you try anything to control the herxing? Like epsom salt baths, infrared sauna? any meds or herbal remedies?
