Hi..So I'm brand new to this site thanks to another member telling me about it.
I had a deer tick bite about 8 yrs ago. I had difficulty in removing it. No rash but had flu like symptoms. Tested negative on a western blot test. Was given only 10 days of doxycylene by my local urgent care. Over the yrs I had a few aches and pains by the tick bite site. I've had back and neck problems but also have all my life. 2 months ago I had a major life stressor. Since then I've been having a downward spiral of health. So many of my symptoms are so similar to lyme. Nurological problems. Tingling in the neck and head. I feel vibrations. Tingling in my legs. Back and neck pain, muscle pain,.headaches, vision problems and fatigue. My doctor yesterday wouldn't even consider lyme. She said it's been 8 yrs you wouldn't have symptoms just pop out of nowhere.
I would really like to see a Lyme literate doctor. MD, or fictional medicine doctor or someone who actually knows lyme and is good and experienced treating it. I live in San Diego CA so I would prefer one locally or in LA. my friend who told me about this site mentioned a really good one in DC.
Thanks all for your help. You can direct email me.
Hi mike, welcome to our community.
You most likely tested too soon after your tick bite....and if it wasn't with a lab specializing in tick-borne disease testing...it may not show a positive anyway.
Unfortunately 10 days of treatment isn't long enough even for an acute infection.
Your tick bite plus symptom history does sound like you have lyme.
There are some good LLMD's in California...and we do have some members being treated in Southern California.
Hopefully you will get some replies.
You mentioned DC...are you meaning Washington, DC? Or is there an area in Southern California .
Excuse my ignorance...I'm in Canada...so not familiar.
I do see the one in Washington DC. If you're interested in the information - send me an email.
Because of the distance, you would only need to travel to two or three X per year.
We do encourage new members read through the information contained in the thread: "New to Lyme?..Start Here!" It's packed full of useful information.
