The evil on this planet is unprecedented. I'm starting to wonder if they got the ying/yang all wrong. I'm seeing a lot more black than white these days.
That's an understandable viewpoint, given the endless parade of horrific items on the Internet, television, radio, and newspapers every single day.
Around 2003, I stopped it all, due to feeling really stressed-out by it. Though I've continued to avoid the "news" on television, radio, and in newspapers, I now scan Google News and actively decide what I want to read, rather than having it force-fed to me. But, just reading headlines can be disturbing, even if I don't click on the article to read it.
Anyway, I wanted to share something I heard in Eckhart Tolle's audio book "Stillness Speaks":
"The transformation of human consciousness is no longer a luxury, so to speak, available only to a few, isolated individuals, but a necessity if humankind is not to destroy itself. At the present time, the dysfunction of the old consciousness and the arising of the new are both accelerating. Paradoxically, things are getting worse and better at the same time, although the worse is more apparent because it makes so much 'noise.'"Here's another quote that's attributed to Eckhart, though I can't confirm the source:
"Things are both getting better and getting worse. The madness is accelerating but an acceleration of the new consciousness is also coming in. However, this latter development is less apparent when you listen to the media. The media still mostly reflects what is happening in the sphere of the old consciousness."There are still good things happening in this world. However, we may have to look a little harder to find them, since they're being drowned out by all the "noise." I think we all instinctively know this, but it can be easy to forget. So, as much as anyone else, this is also a reminder to me to keep looking for what is going right.
