IM Rocephin--How do I get it without spending every last penny I have?

Hi guys,

You've all been so helpful in the past, I'm hoping you might have some suggestions for this. So I've been trying to treat Lyme for a while--several years. I've been to many doctors. Only recently I had a skype session with a naturopathic doctor out in San Diego who happened to write the book "Lyme Brain," which I found very helpful. I actually live in NC, and there begins my problem. I had to find someone in NC to prescribe the abx, which were going to be IM Rocephin, Zithro, & Tindemax (or the generic version of them). I finally found a GP in a town a few hours away who was willing to prescribe. It took about 3 times for their nurse to call in the right dosage to the pharmacy, but finally they got it right. I was supposed to be injecting a 2g vile, once a day, which seems like a lot, but that was the plan. The pharmacist said it would be there in a few days. Turns out that no, they can't really get it, because they couldn't get the right kind of syringe, the right kind of solution (the Rocephin would be a powder that I would have to mix??? and lidocaine as well). This was already too much for my brain, but I would have done it. Anyway, they can't/won't do it, and I have to find a compounding pharmacy. I know there is no way I can afford that. So...I am wondering if anyone has gotten IM Rocephin, already mixed, and through a regular pharmacy, and maybe, just maybe, in a pharmacy that has branches in North Carolina. Any suggestions? I used to do the Rocephin injections and I would mix it myself, the powder with the lidocaine. That being said, you should get the first dose in office so you can firstly be taught how to do it, and second so they can make sure you’re not allergic.
My stuff was all covered by insurance so I’m not sure why your pharmacy is giving you a hard time. Sometimes my dr would have to call and explain to the pharmacy that I am competent and able to mix my own medication. Sometimes you can order syringes for yourself from amazon or the like. I’ve had to do that before.

Thank you Chick! So was the lidocaine the only solution you used to mix the Rocephin with? It doesn't seem that hard. A pharmacist had said that she would be uncomfortable mixing herself, which is why I felt uncomfortable too. Do you think that one could get 1g vials that are pre-mixed? I'm going to look at my insurance again. Did you go to a compounding pharmacy, or was it just are regular pharmacy? Thanks so much for responding!

What's the insurance price? I have found insurance charge MORE then what the drug actually costs.

All 6$roceph will be in powder without syringe. ..your best bet if you cant mix it is to order it weekly from the pharmacy called infuserve america ....2 gram is a lot for im and will hurt ...thus the lidocane ...we get picc lines or ports here

Wondering with like 24 hr half life of im roceph...why he didnt order im pen shots ,lasts a week + and has good bbb
